Flecha is a smart device that follows the
“dumb phone” trend, with limited but purpose-built functions.
It allows explorers to leave their cell phones at the bottom of their backpacks, so they don’t need to use them at least during the trek.

These functions can be summarized as:
Exploration, capturing memories, and social interaction.

Based on the preferences selected at the beginning of their journey, the user keeps track of their current route, the scenic and cultural landmarks they encounter, and the friends they’ve connected to their device.

This last feature helps them reconnect with friends even if they’ve lost sight of each other:
When they’re within a few hundred meters of each other again, they’re notified and guided.

Flecha was designed with the Camino de Santiago infrastructure in mind: The idea is that it would be offered as an additional option to pilgrims in the centers where they would begin the journey.

Bringing two Flecha devices together connects them
via NFC. This means that if you reconnect with a connected device, such as a friend you already know, you’ll receive an alert about their proximity.

Flecha collects data about your journey, the points of interest you’ve visited, the distances you’ve shared with other users, and the location of photos you’ve taken.
